Overview

The club has a thriving and rapidly growing colts section (we now have in excess of 140 colts players). Our colts section is relatively new and has been building from the younger groups upwards. Consequently, in 2009 we will have viable year groups from School Year 2 to School Year 10 (U15). Older players are welcome for coaching but we are unlikely to be able to give them league games. School year 2 is currently the earliest that we intend to take children.

In 2007 the club entered 3 teams into the West Surrey Youth Cricket League - U13,U12,U11.  The U11 team won their league and the U12s and U13s finished 5th and 2nd respectively. In 2008 we ran 5 teams. This year we will be running 6 teams.

Dates:

Coaching has finished for the season.

Details of further coaching will appear here soon.

Please join/register before arriving. See below for membership details.

Note that on the 1st May we will run from the slightly earlier time of 6 – 7.30 (as the result of the annual club dinner).

As usual the bar will be open from 6.15 till 9.30 and we intend to run BBQs most weeks – weather permitting - (with live music at some of these). We will run an internal 6 a side tournament as in previous years and by popular demand we will have more internal games on a Friday night.

In the event of bad weather please do not come down – we will not normally play in the rain (or if the ground is very wet). Also, bear in mind that it can be quite cold at this time of year. It is nice to see the kids in their club shirts but wear a fleece if it is cold.

Subscriptions:

Subs will be held at last years levels:

  • Family membership for the year will be £60 (or £70 if you have more than one child) (cheques payable to Dorking CC).

(this includes social membership, and Friday night coaching for the children)

  • Separate Social Membership for a family is £25 (this would apply to families that want to use the club but who don’t have anyone who wants to play).

We don’t charge any additional fees for Colts matches but Colts playing in adult games pay approximately £3 (to cover teas).

The subs are used to pay coaches on a Friday night (40%), in continuing replacement of equipment - particularly balls (10%) and in the upkeep and maintenance of the ground and facilities (50%).

Please note, we are not a Municipal Service. If there is a shortage of coaches or a long queue at the bar please just help – we depend upon volunteers - its your club too!

Applications for Membership

We will give priority in the following order

  1. Those with parents who can help (particularly to manage matches or coach)

  2. Existing members and siblings who apply before April 12th

  3. New members.

If you are at winter nets you will already have paid.

Once year groups get too big we will close the year to applicants – and we will cap the total number to 150 (10 down on last year).

Please complete the application form on the links page

Make cheques payable to Dorking Cricket Club and return to

Please complete the application form - even if your contact details are the same as previous year

write them out again (just so that we can keep good up to date records).

Equipment.

The club has some spare equipment so don’t buy anything until (or unless) you want to.

For equipment we recommend Romida in Leatherhead http://www.romida.net/

The standard of bats ‘in particular’ is better there than anywhere else locally.

We have about 25 club shirts available in varying sizes at around £12 (please see Sue on Friday nights). We also have club hats at £4.

We have qualified as an "Active Surrey" Accredited Club to ensure that we provide the safest possible playing environment for your child. We have a welfare Officer (Stuart Kinsey) who can address any concerns.

Our aim is to provide the best organized and run coaching locally. Rather than ask untrained volunteers to run coaching sessions we have so far been able  to buy in most of the expertise that we need from qualified and CRB checked coaches many of whom play or have played for the club. Often these include Surrey Community Coaches and Surrey Development Officers.

We intend to run winter nets / group coaching and have done so for the past 3 years.

We already have 2 of the best pitch facilities in Mole Valley (certainly some of the most attractive) and in 2008 we will begin using a new 4 lane outdoor net at Pixham Lane, plus our new 2nd pavilion at Westhumble.

See the links page for links to  our Equity policy / Child Protection Policy .

The club strongly believes in upholding the Spirit of the game and has Codes of Conduct for players, coaches and spectators. See the links page for links to all documents.

If there are any Dads who would like to start coaching or who can help to organize matches - please make yourselves known.
