Tommy Chisman lost another toss and Dorking were put into bat by Hampton Hill on a tough track but with a lightning fast outfield. Noisey, to his teammates, batted imperiously to score his 50th career century for Dorking; an unprecedented feat. Chisman (9) and Rob Howlett (13) helped Horton (who took 19 balls to get off the mark) get Dorking off to a solid, watchful start. But it was the partnership of 189 with Aaron Buller that put Hampton Hill to the sword. Both batsmen capitalised on anything over pitched or too short, picked gaps in the in and outfield with aplomb, and made the most of any fielding error. It was a masterclass in batting from the pair. Noisey only gave one tough chance, on 97, but was eventually out caught on the boundary for 104. Aaron batted on to an excellent 88 not out to see Dorking to 249 off their 45 overs.

Hampton Hill made a valiant effort with the bat but Dorking’s total always looked out of reach. Dave Young put the pressure on, bowling beautifully. Conor Myers then removed both openers, making the most of the inconsistent bounce to knock over their pegs. He could have had another but Chisman dropped his first catch of the season. Dorking then never let Hampton Hill get away. The Homewood twins bowled well in tandem again and George Edwards bowled well despite some dubious front foot no ball decisions against him. Jack ended up with 3 wickets (including 2 good catches behind by Buller), George one, bowled. But it took a further burst from DY to finish HH off. DY picked up 3 quick lower order wickets (bowled, LBW, bowled) and is firmly in control of the race for leading wicket taker.

Dorking were so much in control that Andrew Halliday was thrown the ball and he picked up an excellent caught and bowled in a bang tidy 3 over spell for a mere 3 runs. Dorking ended up bowling Hampton Hill out for 141 inside 42 overs, comfortably winning by 108 runs.

The Cocks now enter the money end of the season top of the league and with promotion firmly in their sights.
