Erasmus in the runs...AGAIN

Dorking come out on top in high-scoring contest.

Following two successive wins, Dorking 1st XI hosted Worcester Park in round 3 at Pixham Lane. Captain Toby Blood won the toss and elected to bat first. The home side got off to another solid start with Erasmus and Kelsey (19), seeing the score to 50 before Kelsey was clean bowled by Harrison. Cameron Pitt and Bradley continued to build a solid platform for the innings and both struck the ball to the boundary on regular occasions. Pitt fell for 34 with Rogers (13) falling soon after despite 3 quickfire boundaries. With the score at 140-3, the game was firmly in the balance. Erasmus and Blood soon changed that however and both batsman played very well against Worcester Park's spin attack. Erasmus reached a superb 100 with a single down the ground and Blood continued his superb early season form with a run a ball 50. Both batsman opened up their shoulders and DCC reached 302-4 from their allocated 50 overs. Blood being dismissed in the final over playing a rather extravagent reverse sweep for a well made 68. Erasmus finishing on 152* having batted the whole 50 overs for the side. Bell the pick of the Worcester Park bowlers with figures of 1-55 from 10 overs.

In response, Worcester Park lost Waite caught behind off the bowling of Corbett. Rawlings (16) was clean bowled by Andy McRae and the away side were in early trouble at 42-2. To their credit, Worcester Park rallied and with the Hill brothers building a 100 run partnership, the game was back in the balance. Dorking did turn the screw following drinks and the pressure finally become too much and Worcester Park lost 4 wickets to leave them 214-6. Credit to youngster Charlie Edwards who bowled with fantastic control and built lots of pressure. Corbett returned to take 4 wickets to make him the current leading wicket taker in the division. The away side finished 47 runs short, with Rob Hill finishing with a superb 112*.

Dorking have now won 3 out of 3 games and sit pretty at the top of the table. 2 away games now in a row as DCC travel to Dulwich and Bank of England.
