Dorking 1st XI move up to third.

he great British weather finally decided to shine on us, as Dorking welcomed Farnham to Pixham Lane. The home side won the toss for the fourth week in a row and skipper Toby Blood elected to bat first. Openers Kelsey (18) and Chave (28) set the tone for the innings with another important partnership with both players striking the ball to the boundary with real authority. Kelsey fell to Goldsworthy and after striking O'Mahoney to the boundary three times in his opening over, Chave was dismissed LBW to leave Dorking on 67 for 2 at the end of the 15th over. Gale and Kenway rebuilt nicely through the middle overs and put together a crucial 38 run partnership before O'Mahoney struck again with another LBW to leave on 105. That brought skipper Blood to the crease and alongside Kenway they both looked to tick the scoreboard over against the accurate Farnham bowlers. Kenway brought up a superb 50, which included 2 large 6s sailing over the Pixham Lane boundary. It was Thorpe who had the last laugh however, when he returned to the attack and Kenway taken brilliantly at point by Rooney. With Munawar also falling in the same over, run-out by that man Rooney suddenly the game was back in the balance at 140-5. A couple of steady partnerships with Ikuta and Dennis, Toby Blood led the lower-order through the remaining overs before being the final wicket to fall for 54. Dorking had reached 203 from their innings. Goldsworthy and Berry the pick of the Farnham bowlers.

In response, Farnham started well and despite Dorking creating a few half-chances, the score reached 37-0 inside the first powerplay with Davies and Hicks at the crease. After being hit for four the ball before, Max Dunn on 1st XI debut had his revenge by having Davies caught at slip. Thorpe (21) and Hicks (60) rebuilt brilliantly though and despite Dorking bowling well and creating chances the score reached 90 by the time Corbett had Thorpe bowled. IT was a crucial breakthrough and suddenly Dorking were back in the game. Drinks were taken and Farnham were well placed at 94-2. Post drinks, Dorking were rampant. Kelsey and Dennis bowling incredibly well and with lots of dot balls, the run-rate and pressure was increasing on the away side. Wickets started to fall with Tom Dennis taking 2 and Scott bowling accurately for his 3 wickets. The impressive Hicks fell for 60, with Dunn and Corbett returning to clean up the tail. Amongst the carnage, Rob Chave took one of the best catches seen at this level, diving low to his right to remove Strachen. Farnham were reduced from 100-2 to 125 all out and Dorking had won by 78 points to take 20 points and move up to third in table.

Dorking travel to Oxted next Saturday for a 12pm start.
