Bad day at the office for 3rd XI.

After winning the toss DCC set about the Esher openers. It was a frustrating start for the brown caps and a few sloppy dropped catches rubbed salt into early wounds. After dropping one of the openers on 5 he went on to score 54. This proved costly!
The wickets were shared around between Josh Shrives, Will Phillips, Dom Kenway, Tim Brewster and Andrew Walker. Unfortunately this was one of our off days with the bowling and fielding very disappointing. The boys knew they had under performed and now turned their heads to chasing down 233.
With Horton and Ovens starting well hitting the odd single and 4s, Dorking begin in positive fashion. However, Esher's bowling attack was once again at a high standard with Horton falling first for 16. In came Aaron Buller who started well and grew in the game, hitting a nice 59. While Andy Walker and Halliday played some nice shots while partnering Buller the score was starting to look to big for us to win the game. With Brewster and Cam Homewood both getting out, it was left to the tail end to block out for the draw. With Edwards, Kenway, eating up some overs it was Shrives and Phillips at the end needing to face out 6 balls, 6!!!!! Unfortunately, Esher got the wicket they needed and took all 20 points to move clear at the top.

Next week the 3rd XI entertain Chessington. Good luck to everyone this weekend, go well.
