On Sunday 8th June, 18 girls from Dorking Cricket Club formed the Guard of
Honour as the teams went onto the pitch at the first ever standalone
women's Vitality Blast T20 match
The girls, all members of the three Dorking girls teams, raised flags to
welcome Surrey and Durham players and officials at the start of the game at
the Oval.
It is a mark of how far girls cricket has developed in less than three
years since it started in 2023 - there are now almost 50 members in the
squad.
Having started the match in style, the girls were lucky enough to go up to
the SCCC box to watch Surrey Win courtesy of a batting masterclass from
Surrey and England star Danni Wyatt-Hodge (74, not out, off 36 balls).
A proud day for all those involved in girls cricket at DCC - thanks to
everyone who made it possible
