t20 begins

The Cockerels started their Surrey Slam campaign with a home game against Holmbury and Westcott Wolves. The 2017 finalists won the toss through club captain Toby and chose to bat. Chris Ward and George Edwards opened the batting with Ward striking the ball around all parts of Pixham Lane. Ward (50) was extremely strong through the leg side, working the ball beautifully of his pads. George unfortunately was clean bowled which meant Stone came to the crease. With Ward as partner they developed a nice partnership until both were dismissed bowled (Stone) and retired (Ward) respectively. Brewster and Walker maintained the momentum for Dorking as the home side finished on 192-8 from their 20 overs. Westcott responded well and looked like they could give the target a real good go. Youngster Godfrey brought the rate down with a tight spell which enabled Blood and Young to pick up 3 wickets a piece. A good performance from a young side. 8/8 for the club so far this year.
