Dorking CC continued their resurgence in Division 3 West with a third consecutive victory, defeating Kempton by 65 runs at Pixham Lane in a performance built around one of the finest innings seen at the ground for many years.
Winning the toss and electing to bat, Dorking were quickly under pressure. Chris Thurgood fell early before Maduranga Zoysa's 21 helped steady the innings, but at 59-2 the hosts needed someone to take control.
Charlie Kenway did exactly that.
Kenway produced an innings that will live long in the memory, smashing a sensational 191 from just 130 deliveries, including 22 fours and nine sixes. Mixing elegant timing with fearless power hitting, Kenway dominated the Kempton attack throughout the afternoon, carrying Dorking from a vulnerable position to a commanding total.
Useful contributions from Toby Blood (33) and Zoysa ensured Kenway had enough support as Dorking posted 280 all out from 49.2 overs.
Kempton's reply began positively as J. Miah (82) and B. Mather (43) laid a strong platform, but Dorking remained patient and stuck to their plans.
The breakthrough sparked a dramatic collapse.
Ben Rogers led the charge with outstanding figures of 4-48, removing four key batters at crucial moments, while George Edwards (3-47) and Chris Ward (3-17) ripped through the middle and lower order to turn the game decisively in Dorking's favour.
Although wicketless, Chris Weill produced a superb spell of control, conceding just 36 runs from his 10 overs, helping build sustained pressure that allowed wickets to fall around him.
Kempton were eventually bowled out for 215, sealing another convincing victory for Dorking and extending their excellent recent run of form.
