Toby Blood25 Jun - 11:03

24 June 2025 – Pixham Lane

Sun shining at Pixham Lane, Dorking CC’s Surrey Slam XI turned in a clinical, commanding performance to defeat Leatherhead CC by 49 runs, keeping qualification hopes alive and momentum roaring.
First Innings: Ben & George Blaze as Dorking Post 180
Winning the toss and batting first, Dorking came out firing. Ben Rogers set the tone with a blistering 53 off 31 balls before retiring not out, peppering the field with 7 fours and a towering six in a standout knock of intent.
After a few middle-order stumbles, the finishing job was done in style by George Edwards, who unleashed a brutal 49 off 33 balls*, including 2 sixes and 5 boundaries, lifting Dorking to a fearsome 180/4 off 20 overs. Supporting roles came from Scott Kelsey (25 off 21) and skipper Chris Ward, who smoked a rapid 9 off 4 before being caught.
Despite Leatherhead using six bowlers, Dorking dominated the run rate from ball one.
Second Innings: Cranfield Carnage & Total Team Effort
Chasing 181 was always going to be steep—and Freddie Cranfield made sure of that. He tore through Leatherhead’s middle order with a fiery 3-wicket haul, returning figures of 4-0-19-3.
Max Ridler (1-14) and Ed Phillips (1-15) set the tone early with two key breakthroughs, while Freddie Baker (2-21) mopped up the tail with some intelligent variations.
Leatherhead’s only real resistance came from Jonny Williamson (40 off 41) and Leo Hunter (20 off 17), but consistent pressure, smart bowling rotations, and a spirited fielding display kept the run rate climbing and wickets tumbling.
Leatherhead closed on 131/8, handing Dorking a deserved 49-run win.
Player Highlights:
Ben Rogers: 53* (31) – explosive opener, set the tone
George Edwards: 49* (33) – ice-cold finish with fireworks
Freddie Cranfield: 3-19 – game-breaking spell
Table Update:
