So here we are again - a very strange start to the Easter holidays!
Firstly, a couple of the committee members have received spam e-mails said to have been from DCC membership. To ensure no further such e-mails are circulating and opened in error we have changed the name that you should see in your inbox when we e-mail you from this account, membership@dorkingcc.co.uk, to Membership DCC. Anything else should be deleted without being opened.
As promised last week we are continuing with the extracts from what would have been in this year's Membership Letter. Today we have a few words from our new President Steve Quinn:
During my time at DCC we’ve had great Presidents in Derek Bullock, Fred Imms and Mike Knott and I hope that I can follow those very fine Gentlemen. 2020 will be my 26th season at DCC. I grew up in Pixham Lane, attended Pixham School and even played (badly) for the ODs so I have this place in my blood and I feel that it is now time to give something back. When I joined the club the first thing that was apparent was the togetherness and the family feel of the club and we should be proud of that. I’ve seen this club change a great deal and mostly for the better. As all clubs we’ve had highs and lows, but I feel that it is time to come together and make the club the enjoyable place that we know it is. This will take patience from both the new committee and you the membership, please support us where you can as we look forward to the 2020 season.
And a few words about one of our sponsors, Stonegate Homes:
It goes without saying how grateful we are to Stonegate Homes’ support of the club and in particular the senior section. This year Stonegate’s contribution to the club goes towards enabling us to have an overseas player, who will also be coaching our Colts on a Friday night. This adds so much value to the cultural learning and experiences that we can offer an overseas and to our own players off the pitch, as well as giving Dorking members an opportunity to play with high level players on the pitch. Stonegate have been brilliant with the club over this winter and we hope to be able to exploit some more of the benefits that come with working with them as time goes on.
Clearly a few things have changed since the Membership Letter was prepared - we are still hopeful that we will be able to play some cricket this season and work continues at both Pixham and Westhumble in readiness for a quick turnaround if and when we get the go ahead.
Meanwhile it is time for Toby's next challenge. Congratulations to Maeva who wins the first challenge, Keepy Uppies. Next up is Reaction Catch - keep those videos coming in!.
Check out also the Pride of Lions Match Day Activity Pack on the SCF site
with lots of fun activities to keep your young cricketers occupied.
And Esher CC have put together some coaching video's to help keep young cricketers engaged during these difficult times which they are happy to share with other clubs. They've completed two so far - the links are below or you can search YouTube: Esher CC Coaching
