Match Report By Tim Brester

The 3rds were back in action against a Kingstonian side that could of been an upset, after winning the toss our openers George Edwards and Dale Godfrey Both u15 set about there work in fine form. Holding the visitors to 12 runs off 12 overs with George picking up a good wicket and finishing on figures of 1 wicket off 6 for 6 runs and 4 maidens(not bad). It was the turn of captain Brewster and shrives to have a go. Both bowling good lines and sometimes very good but unfortunately the umpires had other ideas, maybe he was looking up at Boxhill at that point, This was not the last time in the game to happen, just ask Halliday..... with Brewster picking up some important wickets and catches, we took wickets here and there. Young Toby graham and Halliday both bowling well at times and picking wickets with graham getting 2 and Halliday 1.
kingstonian slowly got to 145 off 50 overs with one of there players getting an important 50 to keep them in the game.

It was another good fielding performance from the team with Rob Howlett continuing his form and taking good catches.

After tea our openers in Barney Davies and Peter Horton started to pick the bowlers off in fine form, unfortunately Davies(10) fell with one to many early shots but that brought the big lad in of Nigel Pestifield, fresh from watching the lions game in the morning I had to remind him to hit the middle bowl if he sees three. with that he did, Nigel and peter playing some fine shots and racing to 50.
Nigel fell at 50 after being called a few names which made him laugh. Matty Howlett came in to hit there bowling to every gap in the field, with himself finishing on 24 not out.
With a nice new Dorking shirt on his back peter Horton finished the game off (54) and makes sure we come away with an important 20 points. This keeps us in second place behind Esher, with three big games coming up lets hope we keep the hard work going and can still be in the fight to go up near the end of the season.

Roll on Saturday and good luck to all the teams playing

Tim Brewster
